Sports

Harris Fields State School has a variety of sports venues including an indoor hall, and a large oval. There are four playgrounds which have been designed to strengthen both upper and lower extremities. There is also a full sized netball court and a half basketball court. The prep and year 1 play areas are also equipped with sand pits.

The Health and Physical Education program provides a wide variety of sports for the students to participate in throughout the year. Sports include cricket, basketball, indigenous games, badminton, oz tag, soccer, bowling, cross country running and athletics. A perceptual motor program is run weekly for students in prep to year three. Activities within this program include body resistance, circuit games, body balance and swiss ball exercises. Children in these year levels participate in lessons twice weekly.

Each year students participate in whole school sporting events including cross county carnival and sports day.

Interschool sport is played in first semester with students participating in rugby league, touch football, soccer, and netball on Friday afternoons. In second semester, intra-school sport is played with students participating in a variety of sports.  Interschool touch football is also played by selected students.

Logan District trials are held for numerous sports throughout the year and Harris Field students are encouraged to attend these trials where if successful selection into representative teams can be achieved. Harris Fields state school has many students who have been successful in gaining selection into Metropolitan East regional teams in a variety of sports and Queensland representatives in rugby league.
