Visual art

Students at Harris Fields State School participate in weekly Visual Art lessons with a Visual Art specialist teacher. The Visual Arts program encompasses a range of creative, hands-on learning experiences with various media including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and printmaking.

The program is designed to offer ways to learn about the world that include more than the spoken and written language.  It also offers opportunities for students to develop and utilise their higher-order thinking skills, as well as build on their socio-emotional skills such as concentration, initiative, self-confidence and decision-making.

The school hosts an annual Art Show showcasing the artistic abilities of each and every one of our students.  Parents, school volunteers, principals of local high schools, as well as local dignitaries are invited to attend our Art Show.  Our students excel in local and national art competitions, which has been a source of pride for parents and the wider community.
