When restrictions are not in place

Students are expected to be learning on school sites.

Students of all ages are able to attend school regardless of their vaccination status.

Students who wish to wear a face mask when the requirement is not mandatory, should be supported to do so.

Parents and carers are welcome on school sites and are not required to be vaccinated for COVID-19.

Parents or carers who are working or volunteering at a school must be vaccinated for COVID-19.

During restrictions

The following advice applies when COVID-19 restrictions  are in place that include the wearing of face masks.

  • All staff must wear a face mask at all times while at school, including when teaching.
  • Students over 12 years of age must wear a face mask when on school premises or when travelling on dedicated school transport.
  • Adults, including volunteers, family members, contractors and other visitors are required to wear a face mask at all times while at school grounds.
  • Face masks are not required where the nature of a person's work means that clear visibility of the mouth is essential.

There are some exceptions for the requirements to wear a mask. Visit the Queensland Health website  for more information.

On-site health and safety measures

It is essential that we continue to implement strict hygiene measures such as:

  • Regular handwashing and hand sanitising, particularly before and after eating, and after going to the toilet.
  • Increase the cleaning of school classrooms, particularly high frequency touch points including water fountains or bubblers.
  • Regular cleaning of play equipment and materials.
  • Unwell students are not to attend the school site and the school will ask parents/carers to collect their child from school if they are unwell.

Physical distancing measures for adults remain in place. This includes the requirement that adults should maintain a physical distance of 1.5 meters from each other to help prevent transmission,  Staff should also:

  • avoid sharing small office spaces
  • open windows to promote air flow where environmental conditions, such as cold weather, allow.

Schools are to encourage staff and parents to observe physical distancing measures by not congregating in areas inside or around the school. For example, it is important that parents do not gather before or after school, in the car park, at the drop off and pick up time, outside classrooms or at the school gate.
